Lady Gaga loses head

Lady Gaga has lost her mind. Literally.

During an appearance on "The X Factor" in the UK, Gaga performed her new single "Marry the Night" in a ghoulish outfit that made it appear as if she was decapitated, and holding her own head in her hand. She emerged in the outrageous ensemble from inside a faux confessional booth.

The costume appeared to rig a fake torso and bloody neck to the singer's back, while drapy black cloth kept her real body concealed. The weight of the costume didn't allow for much dancing, forcing Gaga to take small steps and stand extremely upright. Toward the end of the performance, she stepped back into the confessional, removed the outfit and re-emerged in a leotard to join her backup dancers.

Gaga hinted about her headless ensemble via Twitter before the appearance. "So excited to perform Marry The Night on X Factor UK tonight!," she wrote. "Will sing my head off for England!!"
