Lady Gaga unveiled her grand new project at Barneys department store in New York City last night.

The eccentric singer attended the launch of Gaga's Workshop on Madison Avenue, wearing a typically over-the-top outfit.

The American songstress wore an oversized white Chanel dress teamed with black gloves and sunglasses at the festive celebrations.

Blake Lively and Neil Patrick Harris were among the celebrity supporters at the event.

Gaga's Workshop takes over the entire fifth floor of the iconic Barneys flagship store.

The 25-year-old worked alongside several designers and stylists, including Mugler creative director and friend Nicola Formichetti, to create the project.

The 5550 square foot pop-up store will sell a range of different products inspired by Gaga, including apparel, accessories, cosmetics, candles and toys.

The range will also feature books and CDs curated by the singer. Jewellery made of candy and lipsticks in signature Gaga red or pink hues are also on offer.

"There's all sorts of affordable presents here, and they are guilt free," she told the New York Times. "It's the dream of what music and culture are all about, and th! ese are things that can get lost when you focus too much on commercialism. This is, for me, a much more whimsical approach, a Pop Art approach."

The workshop will be open until on January 2, 2012, with 25 per cent of sales being donated to Gaga's charity, the Born This Way Foundation.
