Lady Gaga Gets Her Own Thanksgiving Special

This month will bring us A Very Gaga Thanksgiving when Lady Gaga sits down with host Katie Couric for a 90-minute television special that will air on ABC on November 24. The special, conceived and directed by Gaga, will find the singer and Couric chatting at Gaga's alma mater, Sacred Heart Catholic School in Manhattan, where they will talk about the inspiration behind Gaga's songs and she will reveal intimate details about her family, friends and her past.As part of the show, Mother Monster also will perform eight songs in front of a small audience of her friends and family, according to a press release. In addition to her new single, "Marry the Night," and other Born This Way tracks "You and I" and "The Edge of Glory," Gaga also will perform "White Christmas" and her duet with Tony Bennett, "The Lady Is a Tramp." Chef Art Smith also will drop by to share some recipes, including his holiday classic, deep-fried turkey and waffles.
"We all know Lady Gaga is a phenomenon," Couric said in a statement. "This is a chance to see more of who she is beneath the wild costumes and staged musical numbers... Lady Gaga as a high school student still bruised by being excluded from the party, Lady Gaga as a devoted daughter and caring sister, Lady Gaga as a 25-year-old woman embracing fame and fortune that seemed to come overnight. She will impress you, delight you and surprise you."
A Very Gaga Thanksgiving is not the only thing the singer has on tap for November. She will appear on the Teen Nick HALO Awards this Sunday, November 6, where she surprises teen advocate Emily-Anne Rigal from WeStopHate.org. She'll also sing "Marry The Night" on the U.K. version of The X Factor! on November 13, and she'll perform on CBS' Grammy nomination television special on November 30. She also will headline the annual KIIS/Los Angeles Jingle Ball concert on December 3.
As reported on Wednesday, Gaga also announcedher own charity organization, the Born This Way Foundation, which willfocus on"youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change."
