Animal rights group PETA have launched an attack against Lady Gaga and Rihanna, describing the pop pair as "freaks" who are "being laughed at".

Despite being praised in the past by the organisation for her ant-fur stance, PETA branded Gaga a "turncoat" last month (August 15) after she was seen sporting a number of fur coats in public. Rihanna, meanwhile, has been targeted by the group before after she wore a top made from ostrich feathers and was accused of exploiting animals for "her dubious looks".

Now, after the 'Talk That Talk' star was observed wearing snakeskin books, PETA told the Daily Express that her decision was "creepy". "Rihanna may not have a clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive. Of course, they can't go on Oprah to cry about it," they said.

"Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes her look even more out of touch... She and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that they are being laughed at."

The pair aren't the first musicians to anger PETA. Recently, they insisted that Noel Gallagher needed "empathy counselling", while Britney Spears and Kelis are amongst the stars they've publicly condemned for the fashion choices ! in the past.
