Lady Gaga called a slut for smoking pot?

Staten Island borough president James P. Molinaro is not a Lady Gaga fan. The 81-year-old grandfather likely does not have Born This Way cued up on his iPod 8-track, but his bigger issue with the pop star is the fact that she smoked the pot on stage during a recent show in Amsterdam. So Molinaro, who is promoting a new neighborhood anti-drug program, took her to task for toking, calling her a slut?

We have to understand that theres a tremendous influence with our youth, which I didnt have as a youth, said Molinaro, according to the Staten Island Advocate. And theres the influence right there. Stop glorifying the drug use. Theres Gaga. Heres this this I would call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children.

The New York Times called on Molinaro to explain his choice of words, but he argued semantics, claiming that the word slut doesnt have to have a sexual meaning and could also simply mean improper conduct.

Looking up the word slut to see if it was properly used before I used it, it said improper conduct, Molinaro told the Times. Now, isnt it improper for someone who is so high profile to be smoking reefer in front of children? I have grandnieces that idolize her 12 and 13 years old and its ridiculous. You see these young girls walking around on Halloween with her outfit on.

Oh, Mr. Molinaro, havent we all been a little improper now and then? If the Random House dictionary is the final arbiter of such loaded word use, then let he who is not a slut cast the first stone.
