Lady Gaga: happy, healthy and still doesn't care what you think
Lady Gaga talks about her lifelong weight struggles, says she's happy with who she is now.
Most celebrities have come to accept the rumors and criticisms they receive living in the public eye. Stories of affairs, breakups, makeups, and the occasional "scary skinny" story. While there are always other stories to report other than a person's weight, that is what happened to Lady Gaga when photos surfaced of her with a fuller figure.
When the photos surfaced of Gaga's noticeably fuller figure, which looks more healthy than "fat," people were quick to call her names. Some went as far as to speculate she was pregnant. In a recent interview with Z100, Gaga said her love of Italian foods like pasta and pizza were to blame for her weight gain and she doesn't "feel bad about it." Though she is currently dieting, she doesn't want to go through the same thing she has always gone through with her weight. She's ready to find a "balance."
If there was one good thing that came from the criticism Lady Gaga received after gaining 25 pounds, it is that it inspired her to help others embrace their flaws and love their bodies. The 26-year-old "Born This Way" singer began a Body Revolution, where she encouraged her Little Monsters to bravely show off their bodies on her Little Monsters website. They followed her lead as she posted photos of herself standing in just her underwear. With the photo, Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, made a revelation.
"Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15," she revealed, adding her weight struggle was a bigger issue than anyone knew.
"My weight/loss/gain since I was child has to! rmented me," she wrote in a blog post on her website. "No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU [the fans] have. My boyfriend [Taylor Kinney] prefers me curvier, when I eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I'm happy. Happier then I've ever been. I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny."
Lady Gaga doesn't look like a model in a magazine, but no real woman looks like a model in a magazine, and the singer is happy that way. She encourages others to be happy that way as well.
"This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And I love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well. Please don't look for kindness in critics, go where you know the gold is. Here, in our hearts."
