Lady Gaga Gets Inked At Perfume Launch Event
Celebrity perfumes are a dime a dozen these days. But when it's Lady Gaga you can be sure the launch party isn't going to be the typical Macy's grip-and-grin photo op.
How about live tattoos and Gaga trapped in a giant bottle? At her masquerade ball-themed launch party for her new perfume, Fame, at the Guggenheim Museum in New York on Thursday night Gaga put on the type of spectacle we've come to expect from her ... and then some.
According to the Huffington Post, a list of famed fashion A-listers including Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs joined celebs such as Lindsay Lohan, Michael Strahan, Paris Hilton and Yoko Ono to watch the spectacle.
Gaga, who arrived at the Guggenheim Museum on the back of a black convertible while rocking long brunette locks and a sheer designer Prabl Gurung gown, made her grand entrance after Steven Klein screened the mesmerizing short film he made in honor of the black liquid scent. While guests waited they were served blood red margaritas and greeted by topless male models.
Actually, unbeknownst to the attendees, Gaga was already in the house, albeit inside a giant replica of the Fame bottle, where she was snoozing as a webcam livestreamed her nap on a huge screen. The bottle was perched atop a golden set of stairs that looked like a lost set from "Star Trek." After the film, guests were invited to step up and touch Gaga's hand while she slept by sticking their fingers through a small peep hole in the bottle as part of a performance entitled, "Sleeping With Gaga."
A sign warned, "Touch Lady Gaga's hand, but please don't wake her." After laying motionless for an hour, she woke up to the strains of David Bowie's "Fame" and put on make-up and fooled around with an iPad while jamming t! o music inside the bottle.
After a bit, Gaga left the bottle, stripped off her gown, wig and jewels and tucked in while celebrity tattoo artist Mark Mahoney cleaned up her recently shorn neck so that he could ink an elaborate cherub tattoo on it.
