Lady Gaga vows media hiatus
Lady Gaga plans to take a "very long" break from speaking to the media, she said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday.
"Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time," she said in an interview aired on Oprahs Next Chapter. "No press, no television."
The singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, added that she has already stopped paying attention to what is written about her or the music industry.
"Even if my mum calls and says, 'Did you hear about ...' I shut it all off," she said. "I don't read a damn thing," she said, adding that the media silence will help her creative process.
Her Twitter account will be the only way she communicate with fans for the next few months, she said. She currently has has 21 million followers.
Lady Gaga talked about her future and her family in the wide-ranging interview with Winfrey that also included a trip to the New York aparment, where she grew up.
Asked if she saw herself some day as a wife and mother, Gaga said, "yes, I want kids. I want a soccer team, and I want a husband." But she put no time frame on that ambition, saying she wants to experience being pregnant but "not yet."
She said her own mother had inspired to her give back with the Born This Way Foundation.
Gaga's mother, Cynthia Germanotta spoke to Oprah what it's like to be the mom of one of the most famous and controversial pop stars on the planet, saying she was often alarmed by her early stage performances.
