Lady GaGa helps indie bands, say Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club have praised Lady GaGa for helping to give "exposure" to indie bands.

The group were asked by the star to remix her Born This Way album track 'Electric Chapel' last year, which they admitted was an opportunity too good to turn down.

Lady GaGa also commissioned other indie acts such as Wild Beasts, Metronomy and The Weeknd to rework some of her songs for Born This Way: The Remix.

Talking to NME about GaGa's decision to have lesser-known acts remix her work, Two Door Cinema Club frontman Alex Trimble said: "It was a really nice thing to see that she was getting a lot of indie artists to remix her stuff.

"I thought if she was doing a remix album she'd have people like David Guetta or Tiesto, so it's nice that she's taking lesser known acts and independent artists, and is giving them exposure."

Asked whether he was surprised that Lady GaGa is a fan of Two Door Cinema Club, Trimble replied: "Yeah, I do think it's odd.

"At the end of the day she's just another human being, but she's a name that almost everyone over the world knows. She's such a huge phenomenon, so it's strange to think that somebody like that would be listening to a band like us."

Two Door Cinema Club will headline this year's NME Awards Tour, which starts at Glasgow's O2 Academy on February 8.
