If you are in the mood for something different this holiday season, the newly opened Seki Asian Bistro at 239 Danbury Road is offering a Lady Gaga roll with crunchy spicy tuna, lobster salad, mango, cucumber, and asparagus, topped with mango sauce and caviar.

This might go well with an Orange Ginger Mojito, or fresh "muddled" mint and orange, Baccardi orange-flavored rum, orange juice, Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur and ginger beer.

"We tell our customers, 'Try something new,'" said John Phang, owner of the newly opened restaurant across from town hall on Route 7, which he described as "modern Asian fusion."

Seki's "innovative dishes" are prepared with fresh ingredients and no MSG, according to Mr. Phang, a native of Malaysia who now lives in Stamford. "Our Japanese sushi is prepared by experienced sushi chefs."

Along with the Lady Gaga roll, a Wilton roll is also offered, with "spicy, crunch salmon, with salmon and red tobiko on top."

The restaurant inherited the site from the previous eatery, Ten China Bistro, and is decorated in golds and reds, with red bamboo lanterns.

So what menu items does Mr. Phang recommend for first-time visitors to his restaurant?

"Spicy tuna pizza, lobster king roll, seared sea scallops, Chilean sea bass, Malaysian curry, grilled filet mignon with jumbo prawns, coconut shrimp, and two ways duck, which is a combination of traditional Peking duck and fusion duck salad," he said. "We have all kinds of appetizers and entrees."

For a dramatic choice, Mr. Phang suggested the flame tower, a flambed dish that includes "shrimp tempura, spicy! tuna an d asparagus." Soups range from vegetarian hot and sour to chicken egg drop, wonton, Thai curry and Tom Yam Goong, shrimp soup.

The full bar is also stocked with the makings of a variety of cocktails, including blood orange margaritas and "coolcumber martinis," with fresh lime and cucumber slices.

"We tell our customers to ask the waiter for a recommendation that best complements your meal," he said.

Dessert selections includes red velvet cake and chocolate mousse, said Mr. Phang, who is one of the restaurant's chefs.

"When I was growing up in Malaysia, my mother taught me to cook," he said. He has been in the restaurant business ever since, in both Connecticut and New Jersey.

Seki Asian Bistro will soon be featuring happy hour with a range of appetizers, Mr. Phang said. "We also offer private catering and private parties."
