Gaga on target to top 24 million Twitter followers

International pop star Lady Gaga, already the mot followed person on Twitter, looks set to top 24 million followers over the coming day.

Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) as of 12:30 GMT May 10 has 23,977,320 followers on the microblogging site and is predicted by Twitter analysts such as twittercounter.com to pass the 24 million mark before the end of day.

Gaga's fans are spearheading the drive for followers by making '24 million monsters' - a reference to the name of Gaga's fan base - the number one trending topic in the world.

Gaga's nearest rivals on Twitter are teenage singing sensation Justin Bieber, who has over 21 million followers and Katy Perry, who has slightly over 19 million.

Currently rapper Eminem is the most popular person on Facebook with over 56 million likes', followed by Rihanna with over 55 million and Lady Gaga with over 50 million.
