Lady Gaga Clarifies ARTPOP Song Title

Lady Gaga wants to make it very clear: The song on her upcoming ARTPOP album isn't called "GUY (Go Under You)." It's called "G.U.Y (Girl Under You)." Got it? Good. All the confusion started thanks to a new interview with Gaga published on the website of U.K. magazine Stylist , in which she was asked "Can makeup and feminism every truly be friends?" and responded by revealing that she'd actually written a song about the issue on her upcoming album. "I actually think there's a new feminism that is completely different and I don't think either is better or worse ... as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man, being under him," she said. "I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it's called 'G.U.Y,' and it stands for 'Go Under You.' " This revelation, of course, sent her fans into a frenzy , which is all fine and good ... except

Lady Gagas role model? Its Adele

By Emily Cronin Posted: Wednesday 31 October 2012 The performer voices her admiration Lady Gaga GETTY What with her put-it-all-out-there antics and intrepid personal style, you might expect Lady Gaga to be impervious to criticism. Not so, the singer said in an interview. When addressing her recent weight gain and the formation of her Body Revolution platform to promote positive body image, Lady Gaga said she wishes she could be more like Adele in at least one respect: her confidence. I thought, well I dont really care if they think Im fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds, Gaga told Stylist. Adele is bigger than me, how come! nobody says anything about it? Shes so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match. She has set the bar very high for a lot of woman. I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people. As for her reaction to the tabloid criticism of photos depicting a

Lady Gaga Tells New York 'I Love You' Amid Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy left a devastating wake as it barreled its way across the Northeast Tuesday morning (October 30). So far, at least 16 people have died in and more than 7 million homes were left without power. New York City, perhaps one of the hardest-hit areas, has been completely shut down as parts of the city were flooded and public transit was down. New York City native Lady Gaga, who was not home when Sandy hit, took to an otherwise empty Twitterverse to send her well-wishes to her family, friends and fans in New York City. "i know its gonna be ok, but that water flooding downtown while my friends are sitting in the dark is making me sad. i love you new york," she tweeted. New York's Battery Park, along with areas of the Lower East Side and Alphabet City, began flooding on Monday. Pictures on twitter showed cars floating in the street at Eighth Street and Avenue C. Gaga is currently making rounds on her Born This Way Ball. Her next show is scheduled for Tuesday night

Harris said Gaga's team approached him in 2008, asking whether he could help out with some of her album tracks. The DJ admitted he snubbed the proposition because he was not fond of her vocals or the songs and was working with Dizzee Rascal at the time. 'You've got to pick people whose songs or voice you like. I didn't like the songs... they didn't send me any of the big songs,' he said. Asked whether he regretted turning the US superstar down, he added: 'No, no, no.' However, Gaga didn't take his admission too kindly. She tweeted: 'Never even emailed you @calvinharris I guess it's hard to believe I write + produce my music. cuz I'm a woman I don'

Azealia Banks Confirms Lady Gaga, Kanye West Collabos

Remember back in August when Lady Gaga and Azaelia Banks set Twitter ablaze by teasing a team-up? Well, at the time, neither artist's rep was willing to comment on the matter which is odd, considering that Banks appears to have no problem talking about her collaboration with the Mother Monster. In a new interview with Brazil's Mix TV , Banks reveals that, yes, she's worked with Gaga and that they've finished a pair of new songs though even she's not sure if they'll end up on the much-discussed ARTPOP album. Lady Gaga gets a fern named after her

Lady Gaga is a well-known fan of monsters, but now even plants are getting involved with her army of music and social justice. Botanists at Duke University have honored the pop star by naming a new genus of ferns, and 19 species within the genus, after her, E! reports . We wanted to name this genus for Lady Gaga because of her fervent defense of equality and individual expression, Kathleen Pryer, director of Dukes herbarium and professor of biology, told E! Im not entirely sure why, but this news just cracks me up. Having a star named after you? TOO DOWNRIGHT ORDINARY for a real-life superstar. The scientists really went all-in on the branding front, naming the specific genus because of its somewhat fluid definitions of gender or, as the singer herself might sing , some bluffin with my muffin, and a distinct DNA sequence that spells out GAGA. They clearly took a cue from her early singles, which reg

Lady Gaga 'To Face Russian Anti-Gay Law'

Lady Gaga is likely to be charged in Russia under the same 'gay propaganda' laws levelled at Madonna, a leading activist has said. Madonna has been summoned to a St Petersburg court after allegedly promoting homosexuality at a recent concert in the city. She is almost certain not to attend. And Nikolai Alexeyev - who was the first person to be found guilty of breaching the law - said anti-gay campaigners in Russia were exploiting international stars to attract publicity. He said: "I'm sure that these people who are doing this now in court will do exactly the same with the Lady Gaga concert, which is coming up in December. "I think that these people are absolutely using this publicity, using these famous people to attract attention to themselves, while no-one knows who they are." The court had sent a summons to Madonna's New York address after the US pop star failed to attend a hearing on October 11. Mr Alexeyev said: "I'm absolutely convinced tha

Lady Gaga is 'proud' of her boyfriend

Lady Gaga's boyfriend Taylor Kinney insists the 'Born This Way' hitmaker is 'proud' of him and she left him 'surprised' recently by tweeting a promotion for the new series of his TV drama show 'Chicago Fire'. The 'Born This Way' singer has visited the 31-year-old hunk on the set of his NBC TV drama show 'Chicago Fire' a number of times and he was pleasantly 'surprised' when she recently tweeted a promotion for the new series of the programme. He said: 'I was surprised. I think she's proud of, you know, girlfriend being proud of her boyfriend. She's been to the set a couple times. While Taylor admits he is a 'lucky guy' because he gets to date the 26-year-old star, he insists they would often spend a lot more time apart when he is on set and she is on tour if it wasn't for the 'Paparazzi' hitmaker's secret weapon - a spaceship. Speaking on the 'Today' show, he added: 'For whatever

Lady Gaga Has Fern Genus Named After Her

BY Charles Poladian | October 24 2012 6:31 PM Lady Gaga must have some little monsters at Duke University. Botanists at Duke have named a new fern genus after the singer. According to Duke University , the scientists are naming 19 species of ferns after Lady Gaga. The ferns were found in parts of Central and South America as well as in Mexico, Texas and Arizona. Two of the 19 species are brand new to science, according to Duke University. The two new ferns are named Gaga germanotta, from Costa Rica, and Gaga monstraparva. Gaga germanotta gets its name after Lady Gagas real name, Stefani Germanotta, while Gaga monstraparva is named after Lady Gaga's fans, whom she calls little monsters. What does the fern genus have in common with Lady Gaga? Well, for starters, the fern shares DNA with Gaga. Not human DNA but the genetic sequence. There are four nucleotides that combine to form DNA, adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. For the fern genus, the genetic sequence spells out GAGA. Th

Fern-finding scientists immortalize Lady Gaga

Duke University reports on the new fern genus, named after Lady Gaga. By Alan Boyle Lady Gaga is already a huge name in the music world, but now she's a scientific name as well thanks to fans at Duke University who named an entire genus of ferns after the gender-bending pop star. Nineteen species in Central and South America, Mexico, Arizona and Texas belong to the newly designated genus Gaga, the researchers report in a paper published by Systematic Botany . The genus is a grouping of closely related species that was split off from an earlier named genus known as Cheilanthes on the basis of subtle differences (for example, the number of spores per sporangeum) as well as DNA analysis. The new genus' 19 species include two new ones: Gaga germanotta was found in Costa Rica and has a species name that pays tribute to the family of the artist, whose birth name was Stefani Germanotta. The species name for Gaga monstraparva, a newfound type of Mexican fern, honors Gaga's fans. (

Lady Gaga Inspires Names of New Fern Species

The genus comprises nineteen separate species of fern which can be found in Central and South America, Mexico, Arizona and Texas and which carry within their DNA the sequence GAGA guanine, adenine, guanine, adenine. We wanted to name this genus for Lady Gaga because of her fervent defense of equality and individual expression, said Duke University biology professor Kathleen Pryer . And as we started to consider it, the ferns themselves gave us more reasons why it was a good choice. According to Duke Today , the reasoning included Lady Gagas custom Armani Prive stage attire (reminiscent of the bisexual reproductive stage of the ferns), her paws up salute to her fans (the way the fern extends its new leaves into a clenched little ball) and, of course, the GAGA DNA sequence. While the majority of the newly christened genus are reclassificat

Lady Gaga Gets 19 Species of Ferns Named After Her

Botanists are experts in plant culture, not pop culture. Or so you thought. Scientists at Duke University took steps today to dismiss such stereotypes by naming a newly found genus of plants after one of the biggest names in the world: Lady Gaga . Mother Monster was bestowed the unlikely honor recently when Kathleen Pryer, a professor of biology at Duke and director of the school's herbarium, named not one but 19 new species of fern (all under one genus) after the pop star. It isn't every day that a new species is discovered, so why classify them under a name that might outshine the discovery itself? "Because of her fervent defense of equality and individual expression," Pryer explained in a statement to the New York Times . "We think that her second album, 'Born this Way,' is enormously empowering, especially for disenfranchised people and communities like LGBT, ethnic groups, women" As it turns out, an admiration for Gaga's work for equal right

Lady Gaga Is Namesake for New Fern Species

Fans of Lady Gaga are affectionately known around the world as "Little Monsters." Now, the name has been bestowed on a newly-discovered species of Fern. Gaga monstraparva, or "monster-little" is one of 19 fern species being named after the pop music star, researchers at Duke University announced on Tuesday. The plants are found in Central and South America, Mexico, Arizona and Texas, according to a news release. Gaga confirmed the follow up to "Telephone" via Twitter earlier today saying it was a "fact" that it would be featured on her new album "ART POP." Even though she did not confirm Beyonce for it, it would be odd for her not to tap herconsidering they are both expected to drop new albums next year. As seen before, Beyonce was eager to work with Gaga as well, taping her for the remixto "Video Phone" during the "I Am... Sasha Fierce" era. Time will tell, but it's not a bad idea for them to reconnect and deliver in 2013.

Lady Gaga slams Die Antwoord

Lady Gaga has hit back at South African rap duo Die Antwoord after seeing their shocking new video which pokes fun of the pop star. The 'Born This Way' singer was outraged at the South African duo's new song 'Fatty Boom Boom' which makes fun of the pop star and her eccentric stage performances. The video features a man dressed in Gaga's iconic meat dress taking a violent sightseeing trip around Johannesburg, before giving birth to a prawn and being mauled by a lion on the street. Lady Gaga attacks South African rap group over video death

A man dressed in Lady Gaga's infamous meat dress is ridiculed, massacred by African rebels and mauled to death by a lion in the promo for Fatty Boom Boom - and the Paparazzi hitmaker is far from amused. In a post on her Twitter.com page on Wednesday (17Oct12), Gaga took aim at the provocative South Africans, writing, "i fink u freaky but you don't have a hit. hundred thousand tickets sold in SA. #thatsmys**t... i guess its not a good idea to tell someone you're a fan. never mind! we get it, you're not a little monster (fan)".
