Celina Dalrymple doesnt have a ticket to either of this weekends Lady Gaga concerts at Rogers Arena. But she does have a seat.

For most of the past year Dalrymple, a Burnaby furniture designer, has been on a quest to give a specially crafted chair to the flamboyant musician. With no contacts in the music industry, shes worked the social media, followed leads, sent letters and emails all in the hope of finally connecting with someone who could connect her with Lady Gaga or her people.

Some, like photos and video she sent to the Ellen Degeneres show, never bore fruit. Others, like the email that somehow found its way to someone who said they were a friend of Lady Gagas mom, showed promise. One even led to a possible future collaboration with another furniture designer in New York.

Shes talked to event producers, set and clothes designers, musicians, DJs and radio stations.

But Dalrymple has yet to hook up with someone who has a direct line to Lady Gaga. And with her Born This Way Ball tour kicking off in Vancouver Friday and Saturday, time is running out.

Ive got so many people rooting for me, says Dalrymple. Now I cant let everybody do! wn.

So determined is Dalrymple to get her bejeweled green and black velvet chair to Lady Gaga that even without a confirmed rendezvous she and about a dozen other monsters, as the singers fans are known, will place it on a dolly and roll it down to Rogers Arena to pose for photos. She did that with an antique sofa shed upholstered with a Union Jack flag for Paul McCartneys concert at BC Place in November, much to the delight of his fans.

It was a lot of fun, says Dalrymple.

Once the concert started we just sat on it outside and listened to the music.

Even if her quest comes up short and Dalrymple has to roll Lady Gagas chair back to her south Burnaby studio, she says shes heartened by messages shes received from others who say theyve been inspired to reach for their dreams. Which is very much a part of her musical heros message.

Shes just a creative mecca right now, she inspires, says Dalrymple of Lady Gaga. She urges us to be creative and reach for the stars.
