Lady Gaga Tweets Thanks To Russian PM For Opposing 'Anti-Gay Propaganda'
WENNLady Gaga, a tireless supporter of the gay community, has thanked Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev for opposing the "anti-gay propaganda law" prevalent in some Russian cities.
The eccentric starlet has expressed her gratitude to Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev for opposing regional laws that make it a crime to provide minors with information about homosexuality.
Gaga tweeted her appreciation for the former president's decision to oppose recently passed bills imposing hefty fines.
She thanked Medvedev for "not standing by your party's anti-gay propaganda law".
The singing sensation made the statement shortly after she arrived in St Petersburg, one of the three Russian cities that have recently passed the bills, for a performance. The law refers to information about homosexuality as "homosexual propaganda".
Asked about the laws, Mr Medvedev stood against the old-fashioned rules, declaring that: "not all relations between people can be regulated by law".
Since 1993, homosexualilty is no longer been a crime in Russia. Lady Gaga is keen to change homophobic attitudes so widespread in the country.
