(CBS NEWS/AP) Jack White said the drama between himself and Lady Gaga was created by the media and that his comments in Esquire are being misquoted.
White said hes the victim of tabloidesque drama baiting by Britains New Music Express. The magazine quoted an interview he gave to Esquire UK in which White appears to criticize Lady Gaga for being all artifice and all image with no meaning.
Its all image with no meaning behind it. You cant sink your teeth into it. Its a sound bite. Its very of this age, because thats what people want. They want a Twitter line, a jpeg, an MP3, he is quoted saying in the magazine.
White posted a note on his record companys website to clarify his comments from the magazine.
The musician said he didnt say anything about Lady Gaga or her music, but instead was talking about the drawbacks of image for the sake of image. He said, If youre going to try to cause drama, at least get the quotes right. He wishes peace to Lady Gaga and congratulates her for championing gay rights.
White, meanwhile, received some good news on Wednesday. His debut solo album, Blunderbuss, received album of the year and best rock album Grammy nominations.
Dont miss Jack White headline Live 105s Not So Silent! Night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Friday, December 7.
