Lady Gaga to record songs for The Great Gatsby movie!

Step aside, Adele, and take your Skyfall somewhere else, because Lady Gaga is to record some of the songs for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming movie, The Great Gatsby. The film, which has a very starry cast - Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Isla Fisher - already has a trailer, which was bizarrely set to a Jay Z soundtrack.

Not that Jay Z is bizarre, it's just hip hop isn't very 1920s. But that's the point of Baz Luhrmann. He likes to shake things up by taking bits and bobs from different eras.

And that leads us nicely onto why Lady Gaga is going to be recording music for the film's soundtrack. Along with 80s legend Prince, she is making sweet music to be used, potentially during the actual film itself!

Actress Adelaide Clemens, who plays Catherine in the film, let slip to Indiewire's The Playlist: "Some pretty huge artists have approached Baz and are writing songs for the film, and I don't think Warner Brothers are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door."

Immediately, though, Catherine said: "I don't know if I'm allowed to say that."

Major OOOPS! But we're sure it's not going to land her in too much trouble. Having two of the most legendary superstars evaaahh attached to the project will surely help it b! uild up some extra hype?

Are you looking forward to an epic song from Gaga?
