Lady Gaga and Die Antwoord in Twitter war

Cape Town - Lady Gaga and Die Antwoord are locked in a war of words on Twitter.

The zef rap group released their new music video Fatty Boom Boom on Tuesday in which they take a stab at the fact that they turned Lady Gaga down when she asked them to open for her earlier this year.

Die Antwoord's Fatty Boom Boom video shows 'Lady Gaga', played by a male actor, in her infamous meat dress as she gets a minibus taxi tour of downtown Johannesburg. She spots Die Antwoord's Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er get ready for a street performance, remarking that "they should open for me".

When her tourbus is hijacked, Gaga escapes and roams the streets of Joburg, alone and afraid, until she comes across a seedy gynaecologist's office and gets a particularly invasive examination.

Lady Gaga took to her Twitter on Wednesday to express her feelings about the video:

i fink u freaky but you don't have a hit. hundred thousand tIckets sold in SA. #thatmyshit

Soon after, Die Antwoord hit back:

WATCH THE FATTY BOOM BOOM VIDEO HERE Outraged fans took to Lady Gaga's Twitter page and have voiced their "disgust" at Die Antwoord, while a mere handful of Die Antwoord followers have stated their support to the zef rap group's video. Lady Gaga largely overshadows Die Antwoord on Twitter when it comes to followers. To date, Lady Gaga has more than 30 million followers, while Die Antwoord only has 80 000 followers.

This is not the first time Gaga and Die Antwoord have butt heads. Ninja claimed in an MTV interview in March that, "Lady Gaga asked us to tour with her and we were like, um, no thanks".

But Ninja didn't stop there: "We like making pop music, but we like making hardcore music at the same time, mixing them, but theyve got, like, soul. Its not like weak, superficial shit. You know?"

Despite turning down Lady Gaga's offer, the group have opted to open for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concerts during their SA tour in February 2013.

Lady Gaga will be performing two stadium shows in South Africa. She will be in Johannesburg on 30 November at the FNB Stadium and in Cape Town on 3 December at the Cape Town Stadium.
