Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' producer talks about his Madonna diss

DJ White Shadow, the producer behind Lady Gaga's hit song "Born This Way," initially had some heated criticism about Madonna after she critiqued the song to Newsweek in January, calling it "A wonderful way to redo my song ["Express Yourself"]" and "interesting."

DJ White Shadow Tweeted on January 12, "Someone should take there [sic] old lady meds before they are allowed to talk in public. No memories having [expletive]." He added later that day, "I obviously do not hate Madonna, or belittle her talent or achievements, however, if she thinks we stole a song from her she is wrong."

However, DJ White Shadow explained his comments to Billboard magazine on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on February 13, where he was nominated for the song.

"I love Madonna. I think Madonna's great. Her career is awesome, her music's awesome. Nobody can imagine a world without Madonna in it," he told the music news outlet. "But sometimes, people say stupid [expletive]. And sometimes, I say stupid [expletives]."

"I got a little bit upset after she was poking, so whatever," he added. "I didn't mean it to be like, 'Madonna's the worst ever, and I can't stand her!' I just thought it was a little bit of a slick jab, that it was unnecessary, because honestly, I don't get it."

Lady Gaga was nominated for three awards that night including Album of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album. Adele swept those categories. Check out the full list of 2012 Grammy winners here.
