Lady Gaga has launched a social networking site
The site is still in the early beta stage and membership is currently on an invitation-only basis, however it is expected to work in a similar way to mobile app Pinterest which allows users to "pin" locations and items that they like.
Matt Michelsen, CEO and co-founder of Backplane - the company behind the website - has high hopes for the project.
He told Mashable: "Backplane is about bringing together communities and Gaga's community just so happens to be the community we're using to learn about proper functionality. We think we can really change the world."
It is going to be a busy year for Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - who is set to embark on a world tour in April. The Born This Way Ball starts at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, and will run into 2013.
