Lady Gaga Will Perform for Bill Clinton's Decade of a Difference Concert and Other Causes She Supports
On October 15th a variety of celebrities will attend the Decade of a Difference, a concert celebrating ten years of the William J. Clinton foundation, in honor of former President Clinton. The foundation's mission is to to alleviate poverty and improve global health among many other goals.
Celebrities including Brad Pitt, Usher, Kenny Chesney, Bono and others will attend the concert in support. Lady Gaga known for her encouraging pop songs and crazy outfits is scheduled to perform. The singer was named Billboard's Artist of the Year in 2010 and is among one of the most anticipated highlights of the night.
After Gaga's awkward and strange performance at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in character as Joe Calderone, a supposed ex-boyfriend with a bad Brooklyn accent, there's no telling who or what the singer will be dressed and performing as the night she attends the foundation's concert.
Regardless of Gaga's wacky ways we still love the pop singer for her ability to be daring and unique and at her core, she has a great heart. Let's take a look at other causes Gaga has supported.
Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief
In 2011 Gaga designed a bracelet for charity with the words "Pray for Japan" on them. The bracelets sold for $5 from the pop singer's website and all proceeds were donated to the earthquake and tsunami relief fund.
Gaga teamed up with MAC cosmetics AID's fund VIVA Glam raising over $160 million to fight against AIDS and HIV.
"We want women to feel strong and feel strong enough that they can remember to protect themselves. To have this lipstick as a reminder in your purse, that when your man is laying naked in bed, you go into the bathroom, you put your lipstick on, and you bring a condom out with youThere are no exceptions," Lady Gaga said.
Haiti Earthquake Relief
After the terrible earthquake in Haiti, Lady Gaga worked effortlessly to raise funds to donate to the earthquake relief fund. The singer donated all of her proceeds from one of her concerts of a recent tour, the Monster Ball (ticket sales, merchandise, etc.), and from her online store; the total amount donated was over $500,000.
"Haiti's still suffering," she said to Oprah. "And I was thinking earlier, because I was in New York during 9/11 and I always felt, the level of disaster isn't in the neighborhood of what is happening in Haiti, but I just remember feeling nobody really understood. And I worry that young people don't know enough about what's going on there."
