Lady Gaga has been raked over the coals in the media for her recent weight gain, and while she says she tries not to let it bother her, she admits that when it comes to her body image, she wishes she could be more like Adele.

Speaking to the British website Stylist, Gaga says of the media coverage of her weight gain, "I heard it was on the news, where they talk about wars, the economy crashing and the election...I just thought, 'This is...ridiculous.' I mean what kind of example is that to a young girl sitting at home?"

The 26-year-old singer continued: "I thought, well I dont really care if they think Im fat, because, quite honestly, I did gain about 30 pounds. Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it?

Shes so wonderful and I think her confidence is something I have to match," Gaga continued, speaking of the other singer. "She has set the bar very high for a lot of woman (sic). I need to be a confident woman and just say politically active things when I can that are helpful to young people."

Gaga has attributed the weight gain to her love of pizza and pasta, calling herself a New York Italian girl. She also blamed her father, Joe Germanottas New York City Italian restaurant, Joanne Trattoria.
